الخط الكوفي هو خط عربي قديم، نشأ في بدايات ظهور الإسلام في مدينة الكوفة في العراق ، ويعتقد أنه بدئ في استعماله قبل نحو 100 عام قبل إنشاء الكوفة. أي نشأ في الحيرة التي كانت قرب الكوفة . وقد استخدم في الكتابة، وفي كتابة المصحف بشكل خاص. وجميع المصاحف التي نُسخت قبل القرن الرابع الهجري كتبت بالكوفي، الذي أجاد فيه خطاطو الكوفة، ثم انتشر في العراق كله. كما استُخدم في النقش على جدران المساجد والقصور وغيرها من فن العمارة الإسلامية. وهو خط غير منقط

The Kufi line is an ancient Arabic line that originated in the early days of the emergence of Islam in the city of Kufa in Iraq and is believed to have been used almost 100 years before the establishment of Kufa. Which grew up in the confusion that was near Kufa. It was used in writing, and in the writing of the Koran in particular. All the Koran, in which the Kufa calligraphers were scrapped, and then spread throughout Iraq. It was also used in engraving on the walls of mosques, palaces and other  Islamic architecture. It is not a dotted line.
