A look inside Indian Slums - The Photobooks
Work for Reality Tours & Travel | 2016
What is a slum? Perhaps a more appropriate question would be, “What do you believe a slum is?”. Most people’s idea of a slum is poverty, criminal trade, disease, filth, and overcrowding.
Reality Tours and Travel works to show the positive side of the slums and break down negative stereotypes about its people and residents. This series of photo-books were designed to meet the same purpose showing the Indian urban slum as it is - with dignity in its labor, with independence in its organization, and with an overall sense of community seeking collective happiness.
The art tries to capture the readers' attention by guiding them to look into the curious and indulgent eyes of the slum’s inhabitants, who visitors often bump into on their tours.
These books were designed to recreate the experience of the slum tour, becoming a handy souvenir for every visitor and an invitation to future ones.
Each book immerse the reader in the slum life right from its cover.
All the covers for the series were designed to open into one panoramic shot capturing the slum’s dynamism.
