Franz Kafka
The Metamorphosis

Background
The Metamorphosis is a modern short-story that takes place in the early 1900’s. Kafka creates a strangely familiar setting at first - daily routine, train stations, work and regular family matter. When suddenly, peculiar and enigmatic turn of events engulf the reader into the unexplainable but captivating storyline of personal salvation. This is a reading book designed to magnify and elevate the overall experience and mystique of the characters and their affairs.

Objective
The main purpose for this project was to design a contemporary book that enhances and compliments the dark, and yet, vidid storyline. The challenge was do it only using shades of black and greyscale images. Matte black packaging, double-sided book cover and silver page inserts create a very modern look and feel for the book.
