Uncomfortable Communication
It was important to place the statements in a somewhat banal, everyday place. This one deals with depression and suicidal thoughts. "i don't want to be here" in a quiet city side street, could be anywhere in Dublin.
It is estimated that in 2014 alone, 10 women per day travelled out of the Republic of Ireland to seek abortion services overseas. It was important to place this statement on a roadway, a site of travel, but still somewhat out of sight, as this social problem is largely ignored.
Quite literally a cry for help. Lost in the city.
