MATCH UP (A game for children with Down's Syndrome)

MATCH UP here, is trying to help kids with Down's Syndrome in their physical and mental disabilities. The game is trying to refine a few skills like Motor Skills, helps with obesity, matching up skills, works on their patience and helps them with a little speech therapy. The key to this game is simplicity. The game is printed on flex and has other deliverables like placards, a dice and a book which helps the guide and the players play the game better. With my game I'm trying to help and initiate the lack in market for these children.

Setting up the game:

1. Spread the mat face up on a at surface, indoors or outdoors.
2. Spread all the placards around the mat.
3. Place the dice near the players. Red is for stop and green is for go.
4. Designate a teacher/parent/guardian/helper as the guide for the game. The guide is not considered as a player. During the game, the guide will help the players recognise and call out the names of the characters made on the mat and placards. Once the player is done matching up the characters on the block and placard, the guide then checks if the player is playing it right.
5. Position yourself on the mat according to the number of players.
6. Maximum number of players at a time can be 4.

How to Play:

1. The guide has to now ask the players to stand on the very first block (Start).
2. The first player has to now throw the dice.
3. If the colour on the top of the dice is green, the player can take a step ahead and move on to the next block. If the colour on the top of the dice is red, the player has to stay where he/ she is and has to wait for the next turn.
4. After moving from the ‘Start’ block to the rst block, the player has to then try and recognize the character made on the block. The guide can help the player recognize the character if the player is facing any problem. The player has to now try and call out the character made on the block.
5. Once the player is done recognizing and calling out the character, he/she has to go towards the pile of placards kept around the mat and match the character made on the block with the placards.
6. Once done matching the placard to the block, the player has to then hold the placard with both his/her hands and show it to the guide. The guide will then con rm if the player is right or wrong.
7. After showing the placard to the guide, the player has to now come back to the block he/she was standing on and has to take a step ahead and stand on the next block.
8. The same process has to be followed the entire time, till the player reaches the last block (Finish).
9. For ‘Skip a block’, the player has to skip that block and move ahead to the next block. ‘Skip a block’ is like an advantage.
