This personal project was an attempt to refine and practice my painting skills. Deciding on the colour palette early in the process, it made sense to create a political comment piece on
consumerism in the United States.
As I got deeper into the project, I started to see that these illustrations would work really well in an editorial form and decided to create a “story” with few words, that was very suggestive in its outcome. Because of the political nature of the piece I decided the best publishable form was to create a zine and present my argument to the demographic of people who
appreciate zine culture.
As well as creating a zine, I also used the illustrations to create a pack of 6 stickers, some badges and a sweet birthday card.
