New York Illustration

I made this illustration as a personal project, on my second time in New York earlier this year.

Probably what struck me most while walking the streets was how there are neighborhoods with old, historic buildings made of brick and just a few steps away you see modern skyscrapers, building towers made of glass and steel. It's pretty fascinating and it reflects also the way people live. Some are old fashioned, traditional, like from an old book (take the Jewish neighborhood in Williamsburg, for instance) and then you see the modern, Wall Street suit types, then you see bohemian artists dressed up funky and so on.

These contrasts are the best thing about any big city, I think. But somehow New York has its own, unique vibe.
