POSTCARD FOR CAPE REINGA, NEW ZEALAND
PROCESS:
I began with a base photo in Adobe Illustrator and, starting at the bottom of the lighthouse, added layer upon layer for the different tonal areas. I then added the background imagery such as the sky and ground. The original photo was mid-day so the colours were very different originally. I then placed the file into Adobe Photoshop. To make the scene seem like sunset, I changed the hue of the whole image. I then went back to make the grass the right colour by selecting it individually with the Magic Wand Tool, and similarly for the shadows I made them more blue by editing their hue individually. I then added the text in, changing the scale, tracking, leading etc. until I was happy with it. I added a little logo type thing in the top left corner because it was too empty, to finish off the postcard.
