Vegan in Birmingham is a food blog that is owned by Sally. Sally contacted me asking if I could designer a logo for her vegan, food blog.

Except for a bright, blue tone for her main brand colour Sally gave me full creative control. I start all design projects by conducting research and Sally’s project was no exception. The research phase gave me a clear direction that I felt was perfect for Sally’s logo. I sketched out my ideas before rendering digital in Illustrator, this gives me freedom as I can sketch ideas out faster on paper then with a mouse and keyboard.

I illustrated an outline of well known buildings in Birmingham of which the Bullring is the most well known but due to its strange shape it just didn’t look right in the design. The plant wrapping around the buildings represents veganism and obviously the buildings represent Birmingham. To further distinguish vegan and Birmingham coming together I used a clean, strong font for the name Birmingham and a cursive font for the name Vegan. I then combined the two words by overlaying “Vegan” slightly over “Birmingham” as this gives the feel of vegan taking over Birmingham.
