Indonesian consumers, accustomed to seeing Western brands, often value foreign brands higher then domestic ones. However, coffee lovers recognise Indonesian coffee as one of the best in the world. The challenge is to create a brand identity for Origin Coffee Shop which captures the Indonesian heritage and connects with both a local and global market.

The best Indonesian coffees come from prime coffee-growing regions, such as Sumatra, Java, Sulawesi, Bali, Flores and Papua. Each region is known for a specific taste profile, although there is a great deal of diversity within the regions.

The Idea is to  synthesize the visual elements of four coffee-growing regions traditional patterns, which are Sumatra (Gayo), Java (Pekalongan), Sulawesi (Toraja) and Papua into a minimalistic modern form. The visual style intended to be modern and global yet close to the cultural local roots of Indonesia.
