The task was to design covers and additional branding elements for four vinyl record.
On every disk there is a song or noise collection based on granted topics.

Topics:

First collection: Nature sounds
Second collection: Human noises
Third collection: Instrumental music
Fourth collection: Vocal music

I collected the sound for each topic in a way that every song or noise would have
a connection to the digital, minimal or futuristic style. That's why the name DIGIC was given to the collection.

The spectrogram is the visual representation of the spectrum of frequencies of sound or other signal. Basically by creating these spectrogram snapshots, you're able to see the structure of the sound.  After creating these spectrogram pictures for each topic, it was clear, that you can easily differentiate the collections by just watching them, due to their identical look. During the designing process of the album covers, my goal was to replicate the spectrogram patterns of the themes.

// Epsilon - Topic: Nature sounds (Space sounds)

// Lambda - Topic: Human noises (Distorted radio broadcasts)

// Omicron Topic: Instrumental music (Instrumental music collection)

// Sigma Topic: Vocal music (Nine Inch Nails music collection)

I created a typeface system, based on the common patterns and forms found on spectrograms. The goal was to create a typeface where the viewer can't tell which form connected to which letter. By doing so, when we put together the "letter parts", the whole will be just an abstract pattern system, instead of a readable type.

// Epsilon - Space sounds

// Lambda - Distorted radio broadcasts

// Omicron - Instrumental music collection

// Sigma -  Vocal music collection

Thank you!
