This piece of work is a result of my dabbling with Indigo dyes and resists. Combining printing, stitching, arashi shibori I have tried to create a effect which plays with the levels that a dye can reach up to. Using the geometric print as my guidelines to resist, and opening the stitches in a definite manner i have created a spine like portion in the back that reveals the resisted areas.
Exploring with the techniques of shibori, stitch resist, Khadi printing and indigo dyeing this particular garment emerged as a final product of a classroom project. The focus area of the garment is the short jacket (shrug) which is made out of a fabric made using the above techniques creating an interesting effect.
