Borders

There are two works which we have done for the poster competition at the international Shuba Design Conference. The organizers proposed the theme
Border Studies. These posters were selected by the jury for the final exhibition.

On the left is the poster about an universality of some human values.

On the right is a data art based on the information about the length of the border.
The familiar contours of the world map are transcoded into straight lines, forming an impulse-like pattern. Each line of the impulse represents the total border length (including shore lines) of one of the country-members of the UN.

This data art allows to estimate the number of countries in each part of the world and to correlate their borders lengths.
