This poster is to commemorate Eric Gill, who was a British sculptor, typeface Designer, stonecutter, and printmaker, and his most famous typeface, Gill Sans. Gill Sans typeface is based on classic Roman letterforms and proportions, it gives a less of a mechanical feel than geometric sans-serif. Gill Sans became popular and commonly used for all the London and North Eastern Railway posters and publicity material in 1929.
