My grandmother really loves to talk. She used to come to my room while I was studying, sit on my armchair and tell me the same stories over and over. She usually talked about her childhood in Barcelona and her eyes light up when she spoke about the city. She did this so many times that I knew just how would go. First of all, she would see my pet, a guinea pig, and tell me that her neighbours had those strange rabbits after the civil war.  They were raised for food, but she always refused to ate them because they were too similar to rats. She would cry out to her mother "if we have normal rabbits, why should we eat those?".
Her mother was called María, the same as her, and similar to my mother whose complete name is María de los Ángeles. Mum spent her first years of life with her grandparents living in Buñol. She has told me so many stories about that place that I used to dream of the house, which had the longest corridor ever built and a crazy layout of the rooms. The house also had a beautiful garden and a pool, and my great grandparents would grow all kinds of plants. My mother learned the names of many flowers, and now she has this special gift of magically growing any plant in any situation. Maybe it has something to do with being named María, or maybe it's just the Polish weather, but I haven't been able to grow anything successfully yet.
