NATIONALS 2017
1ST ANNUAL OPEN AND WOMEN'S NATIONAL TOURNAMENT
On March 13, 2017, the Philippine Flying Disc Association (PFDA) announced that they are looking for a concept art / logo for the Annual Ultimate Frisbee National Tournament to be held on May 20 -21, 2017 at Bantug Ranch, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental with a theme Malakas at Maganda. Since I've been playing this sport for years, I made sure to participate in the competition.
While creating the logo, the first thing I did was to look for the right font that would represent the event. I searched for a font that has that stroke of dirt that you see on a player's jersey after doing a layout.
Then, I used the colors of the Philippine flag to bring out the national feel of it.
After that, I vectored icons that would represent the theme si Malakas at si Maganda.
I submitted 4 designs for them to choose. Luckily, 1 of my concept art was chosen and was used as the official logo and alternate logo of the event.
The logo was also used as watermark and event jersey print.
