Precious Cargo
Brief:
To create a visual piece of design inspired by an item displayed in Hull Museums.
Rationale:
As part of the London 2012 Olympic Games Hull City Council set a competition brief to produce a design inspired by an item from one of Hulls Museums. The six winning designs would be enlarged and placed on 15ft banners to be hung in the Paragon Station. Because of the cities rich whaling background I based my design on the diary of one of the last whaling ships to leave Hull, The Diana. I decided to choose three key points in the vessels journey: departure, becoming ice locked and returning safety home, illustrating the narrative. My design along with five other students work was chosen and displayed.
