Brighton's National Spiritualist Church
Spiritualism is the belief that the spirits of the dead have both the ability and the inclination to communicate with the living. Four four weeks I spent documenting the local church and attended regular services, such as demonstrations of mediumship and awareness groups.
This is one outcome from the project, documenting the church itself. The church first caught my eye due to its unusual shape being that it was made up of circular and kidney shaped sections. The building also gave off a secretive atmosphere due to the fact it had no windows. I collated many weird symbols and logos that were dotted around the church and again, they were all circular, which then led me to use this shape as a consistent theme throughout, alongside the use of found imagery from the church's leaflets and posters.
