Pierrot? That sad naive clown from Commedia dell'Arte whose origins are in the late seventeenth-century? Yes that guy.

Why this character? Even though the character is old and well known, what it represents today in our society is the same that it did a few centuries ago. Don't we all have a Harlequin and Pierrot inside us?

With this project I was going for a fresh approach to the character. My Pierrot is a girl in a dress!

Later on the idea of recreating Pierrot in a new way gave way to two collaborations one with a photographer João Pires and the other one with a photographer Pedro de Castro Agoas. After I made the outfit we could finally bring my Pierrot to life. Both photoshoots were based on the same character, with the same dress. Where photos of João Pires were more in tune with my illustration, Pedro de Castro Agoas version is surprisingly different.

Mais tarde a ideia de recriar Pierrot deu origem a duas colaborações fotográficas, uma com João Pires ou com Pedro de Castro Agoas. Tendo feito o vestido finalmente foi possível dar a vida a minha Pierrot. Ambas as sessões fotográficas tiveram a mesma base de partida, a mesma personagem e o mesmo vestido. Quando as fotografias de João Pires estiveram em sintonia com a minha ilustração, o trabalho de Pedro de Castro Agoas conseguiu mostrar um lado diferente e moderno da personagem.
