Dear Diary
In 2014 and 2016 I took several months time out from my work as an illustrator to be at home with my children. I tried to document our life by making one drawing per day. My idea was to capture the every day and the abstract, the ordinary and the extraordinary that is hidden in plain sight in our lives.
A second intent was to reclaim the act of drawing for myself. I wanted to depict my life and find subjects in it. I tried to bring back an immediacy to the process by working fast, spontaneously and in the moment.

Altogether I created more than 70 drawings - a selection of them is shown here.

The drawings were shown in exhibitions in Hämeenkyrö and Karstula, Finland during the summer of 2015.

The series was awarded the Finnish graphic designers association grafia's silver award in 2015.

Part of the drawings will be presented at Mikkelin Kuvitustriennale 2017 in Mikkeli, Finland.

One drawing of the series (see header image) will be featured in American Illustration 36.
