Reclaimed Horse Barn

The design goal for this reclaimed 19th century horse barn is to bring life back into the space while maintaining elements of the old building. To accomplish this, the barn was opened up and exposed, allowing for large expanses of natural light to enter in. A grand staircase is found on the first floor lobby with an attached opening that reaches all the way to the third floor rafters. This gap allows the south facing light to penetrate in through the second floor lobby, as well as to serve as a focal design point.  To compliment the style of the old barn, reclaimed materials are used where possible, creating an organic, earthy atmosphere to the building.
