Kimono: Pendant Light

Inspiration Prototype. Two bands of paper slit on the diagonal are wrapped, draped, and manipulated to create dynamic form around light source.
Mockup 1. Square paper shade, slit and folded to drape around light source.
Mockup 2. Long and narrow paper, slit on the diagonal and then twisted around light source.
Mockup 3. Slightly wider and shorter paper than Mockup 2, slit on the diagonal but not all the way down length. Wrapped around light source and ends pulled through slits and held closed by friction alone.
Final Prototype. Playing off the concept of a kimono, several layers of diagonally cut paper are wrapped around the light source with the ends pulled through the slits and held closed through friction alone. By reversing the direction of the cuts, and the color/pattern of the papers, additional coloring and diffusion effects are achieved.
