Ambigram

This is a small bit of design experimentation where I  had a go at creating an ambigram. An ambigram is where a word can be read upside down to read the same word or a new word. There is a great article on it by HOW design here http://www.howdesign.com/design-creativity/typographic-magic-how-to-make-an-ambigram/

For this I started with multiple words but none seem to come together before I found Practice and Perfect which I originally thought worked however I soon realised that I ran out off letters. But from this I saw that the c and t could make a p nicely so I went with Perfect that was flipped. Below is some of the thinking behind pairing letters and creating the shapes. This is very much a trail and error process as can be seen by the first attempt where the r and f were out of line with the other letters so I had to devise a new way to work it out.
Above: Rough animation showing the initial design process in a basic fashion (doesn't include stylising the text or final design aspects)
Above: These are a few variations of the final design incorporating different styles and borders to represent different ideals.
This is the first version of the outcome which has more of an arabic appeal to it by adopting a rich gold colour scheme and fancy border as well as the style of the lines that are tapered.
This is the second version of the outcome which is more of a modern possibly futuristic sci-fi style shown by the sharp lines, cold blues, boxes and lens flares. This is personally my favourite due to how the future is always supposed to get closer to perfection plus I enjoy a ski-fi aesthetic.
