Since in the focus of project I chose to illustrate were demographic structures in Croatia, and scientific methods used and developed for their research, idea was to make a visual representation of these concepts. The demographic picture is one of often mentioned problems in the recent history of Croatia, with ageing population, decreasing birth rate and  growing emigration rate of young people caused by bad economical and political situation (to mention some of the problems: completely destroyed industry and agriculture, economic system basically dependent on tourism, growing spatial and economic polarization of population, etc.).

To manage to get this complex and wide picture, I have included all of the elements I see as building blocks of this society and population, some from my personal experience and everyday life and some from news and existing data. As I tried to build the picture from various elements, I realized that research team does the same: they gather and inspect fragments and then use them to build the „big picture“ – this becoming the concept behind turning the illustration in a metaphoric puzzle.
