Biophilia - a sustainable lighting concept

Biophilia
the plant powered mood makers
As a foreign student I realized very quickly that nature is omnipresent in nordic countries. Especially the woods
influence the landscape, interior and lifestyle.
When the sun hits the green leaves they create the most beautiful natural lamp shield.
During summer one can enjoy this atmospheric scenery all day. To nurture humans innate need to connect with nature „Biophilia“ was created to take part of it inside and spend comfort also during dark winter days.

Inspiration
Product Mock-up
The minimalistic yet dynamic lamp creates a different ambience every day.
Biophilia becomes a personalised, unique companion which lets you
recharge your energy through its soft, exhilarating light, granting every space a magical vibe.
The lamp is powered by photo microbial fuel cells, a technique developed by Swiss designer Fabienne Felder and Cambridge scientist Paolo Bombelli.
It uses plants as „biological solar panels“, creating enough power to light up the lamp. This 100% green energy is produced directly in your home, from a natural resource that almost everyone has in their apartments already, just waiting to be put to use!
Technical Details
Biophilia is constructed to be completly water proof, in order to make watering the plants easy and safe.
Placement Possibilities
Biophilia can be developed in different heights, depending on the location it is placed.
