TRANSIENCE
 Stop-motion

A visual allegory about the transience of life is explored in this short animated dreamscape. The film displays fluid, painter-like qualities integrating a variety of techniques in clay and digital media.
This film is a student collaboration between me and FYP partner, Farah Yusop. We conceived the concept of the film together and went through vigorous experimentation and sleepless nights to ensure that every frame of this stop-motion film is meticulously treated to produce the beautiful abstract end-product.

SCREEN CAPTURES

These are the scenes that I worked on. Each scene comprises of a B3 sized layer of clay, about 2 inches thick, dug with clay sculpting tools.
Film stills from the withering lotus sequence. The gradient that the back-lit pink clay creates gives the film an overall surreality and fluidity which adds to the dream-like feeling we were going for.
Film stills from the fetus sequence.I actually used 2 different colors of clay here. Orange clay turned out fiery red on camera while yellow gave an orange hue. This combination gives more depth and vibrancy instead of using just one color.
Film stills from the running sequence.A continuation from the fetus sequence, in this scene, I was experimenting with camera angles in order to create my dynamics and movement.
These are stills from a sequence that was not included in the final film due to its low resolution. Apparently the camera lens was not properly focused while I shot this sequence hence it was unusable. The sequence depicts our character walking slower and slower as it grows older, and gradually fading away with the wind.
