callygraphy & typedesign collage

This project is about a collage between calligraphy and typedesign. The motivation was about finding a way to combine formal letter shapes with abstract calligraphic shapes. The experimental calligraphic shapes were drawn with a broad edged pen. The fonts that were used, are all designed by myself. They all have a strong historical background: a gothic script from italy (Rotunda), two renaissance scripts (Fraktur and Humanistic Italic) and a classicistic script (Equipe). In this case the letters work as images, the different shapes themselves are speaking their own languages in one shared space. There were also geometric shapes used to provide a contrast to the manual calligraphic shapes.
