2016 | HOUSE IN ZIZKOV
As a part of discussing different forms of thresholds, this project explores the relation between the intimacy of a family fireplace, and the presence of the city's existence. Essentially, it is a house that tries to confront the often still common aversion to the urban landscape by acknowledging it as the primary impetus of its own program.
As a typology it wrests control from the developers and government authorities and tries to put it back in the hands of the individual, and thus becoming an embodiment of one's desire to live in the city. As a project, liberated from the ever growing pressure of numbers, it is an act of carving out a place that aims to become not a commodity, but a home which of the value extends further than just what mortgage you might gain while speculating on it.
Despite trying to undermine the conventions within the current real estate market in the age of neoliberalism, the city here is still understood not only as a backdrop for generating(and allowing for) its private life, but also as a condition for the economy of the household and its capacity to provide means for the inhabitant, resulting in a gorgeous illustration of the dual morale of the city and its people.
Trying to establish the conditions of their mutual dependence, the project ultimately provides a brief insight into architecture in which living and working become defying acts of independence and individuality.
