This was a very self directed project initiated by me. I set out to create a family cookbook that consisted of all the recipes that my family makes and consumes on a regular basis.

The project was started from scratch and required all recipes to be typed and all meals to be made, styled, and photographed.

The entire process consisted of two parts, namely preparation and design. More than anything the project required really strong project management skills. The end result was 166 pages and 58 recipes all put together in the span of 6 weeks.

The book needed to be very functional as a piece of design but also capture and reflect the food journey of my family.

As such a mixture of traditional and modern styling was incorporated into the design of the book. Hence the use of Henna patterns, vivid colour as well as clean layout and typography.

A big point of differentiation for the publication in comparison to others are the black pages with white text, This is not commonly seen in cookbooks and also ensure pages don’t dirty easily.
