Milton Glaser, renowned American graphic designer and illustrator, created and donated to the Binghamton University Art Museum two sets of six digital prints which demonstrate his experiments with pattern and perception. He works out his thoughts graphically in color prints of landscapes and portraits that celebrate modern masters such as Cézanne, Toulouse-Lautrec and Klimt. The twelve prints, along with preparatory sketches, are presented here in a novel way, utilizing entire gallery walls in this exhibition entitled Modulated Patterns. Designer and curator of the exhibition, Blazo Kovacevic, Assistant Professor of Art and Design, pushes Glaser’s experiments further by selecting and printing several of his images in larger formats. The intent is to place the viewer in an immersive installation where patterned prints of landscapes, objects, and people approach or even exceed life-size.
Milton Glaser: Modulated Patterns exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue that includes an introduction by the curator and an interview with the artist by Tom McDonough, Associate Professor of Art History.
This catalogue accompanies an exhibition curated by Blazo Kovacevic at the Binghamton University Art Museum.
