The shield symbolizes protection and student safety, whereas the blue color represents the Caspian Sea, and therefore says something about our location. It is also the color of education, as it represents wisdom and intelligence. Although lions are represented on BakuĀ“s coat of arms, in the relief on the Double Gates in Icheri Sheher, that Shirvan possibly means protector of lion, and they roamed this land prior to the 10 th century, the lion here is first and foremost a British symbol. The wavy mane reminds us of the Baku winds, and also has the shape of fire.
