Juxtaposition: The process of sport & craft

CONCEPT

This publication is an abstract and visual exploration fuelled by a personal curiosity that surrounds the relationship between sport and craft. The publication has an honest approach and visually compares the detailed aesthetics and expressive characteristics of the two subjects. The aim is not only to expose an identifiable difference between the two, but to highlight a clear juxtaposition. Relative to the appropriate subheadings, I have attempted to merge the two process-driven practices together. I have actively pulled apart the systems and processes behind sport and craft in order for you, the reader, to draw similarities, differences and personal conclusions. The content of this publication is entirely taken from six collected instruction manuals, each exploring methods of directive and conditional rule making relating to the arts of craft and sport. Through assembling this publication I have realised that two essential components they share are creativity and technology.
