Samurai Jack - Aku - Typographic Poster

Samurai Jack - Aku - Typographic Poster Design
I've always wanted to create a typographic artwork for the Samurai Jack series as I've always loved the story and the design of the characters and worlds. I browsed the web a few days ago to see if others have tried a typographic approach and was surprised to only see one design and it felt quite lacking of the show's personality.

It started as a a fun filler for my planner insert that I've converted into a sketchbook.

The poster concept done on my planner insert.
As you'll notice, I kind of lost track with the style and direction once I got halfway to the quote. After completing the design, I felt I had to try it on the computer.

As I started, I wondered how the design would look like if I could incorporate the show's logo typeface onto this poster. I soon found out that there wasn't any available font for it as it was most likely a custom design for the show. The project then became a typographic exercise for me. I tried to imagine what the other letters would look like basing off the letters available in the logo.

The final piece is an example of how I imagine the typeface would've looked like if it was developed for typographic use. I'm still trying to complete the alphabet, mostly because I'm more than halfway through.

I have other poster designs in mind, so I'll try to showcase the other letters on those once I get to making them.

Thanks for looking!
