PT_ A coleção Empoderar é inspirada nos conceitos da joalheira contemporânea, que desprende-se do valor material e financeiro indo de encontro a valoriação das questões políticas, simbólicas, emocionais, subjetivas, culturais e da experimentação, da autoria onde a criação e o processo projetual ganham maior valor.
Sendo assim, as peças foram confeccionadas com descartes de madeiras, tecidos e materiais que não contém alto valor agregado ou uso comum na joalheria. Já a Inspiração veio do feminismo interseccional, um movimento de mulheres que promove a igualdade de gêneros e faz recortes nas lutas específicas de certos grupos, como por exemplo, as mulheres negras, indígenas ou LGBT, no qual escolhi cinco mulheres para representar esses grupos: Aqualtune, Brenda Lee, Cassandra Rios, Sonia Guajajara e Maria da Penha, de modo que suas histórias pessoais de lutas e significantes contribuições para o nosso dia a dia, não sejam esquecidas no passado, mas sim que sejam usadas como motivadores para nossas lutas pessoais.
EN_ Empoderar (to Empower, in portuguese) collection is inspired in the concepts of contemporary jewelry, a design line dettached from the material and financial values of traditional jewels, that aims at promoting the political, symbolic, emotional, subjective, experimental and cultural issues of the projecy, in which the creativity and the process overlap the value of metal and stone.
Therefore, the designs were fabricated with discarded wood, fabric rejects and other materials that either have very little added value or aren't commonly used in traditional jewelry. The inspiration came from the intersectional feminism, a women's movement that advocates for gender equality with attention to the claims of specific minorities such as black women, native indian women or LGBT. From such movement I elected five significant brazilian representatives to reflect each of those groups: Aqualtune, Brenda Lee, Cassandra Rios, Sonia Guajajara and Maria da Penha, in ways that their biographies and contributions to our day-by-day are not forgotten in time, but utilized as motivation to our personal struggles.

PT_ Antiga Princesa do Congo, ao perder uma luta em seu país foi trazida ao Brasil como escrava. Aqui ficou sabendo da existência do quilombo de Palmares e resolveu fugir para lá. Chegou ao quilombo acompanha de mais 200 escravos e, por saberem de sua origem, foi feita líder no Reino dos Palmares. Ali, Aqualtune deu a luz três filhos conhecidos, Ganga Zumba, Ganga Zona e Sabina, mãe de Zumbi. O final da vida de Aqualtune é nebuloso, o fato é que em vida Aqualtune foi exemplo de força feminina e negra.
As peças inspiradas em Aqualtune fazem referência ao Congo, o colar lembrando as pétalas dos Lírios típicos da região e o bracelete com formas geométricas presentes nos motivos artesanais das tribos africanas. O bracelete pode ser usado também como colar, gargantilha e headband.
EN_ Was a princess of Congo, brought to Brazil as a slave after being defeated in battle and imprisioned. Here she became aware of the existence of Quilombo dos Palmares, a hiding colony for african slaves who escaped from their masters, and so decided to run away as well. Aqualtune arrived to the Quilombo followed by more than 200 slaves. Aware of her past, people choosed her as the leader of the Palmares Kingdom. Aqualtune gave birth to three known children, Ganga Zumba, Ganga Zona and Sabina, who years later would give birth to Zumbi of Palmares, icon of the african slave resistance in the colonial Brazil. Aqualtune's last days are a mystery but fact is that, in life, she was an example of the power of the black woman.
The designs inspired by Aqualtune make reference to Congo, the necklace's pieces refers to the Lily's petals, a typical flower from the region she came from. The bracelet presents geometrical patterns inspired in the african tribal motifs and can also be used as a necklace, headband or a collar.
PT_ Anjo da Guarda das Travestis, como era chamada, foi uma mulher transexual que viveu São Paulo e que apesar das dificuldades, abriu as portas de sua casa para pessoas portadoras de HIV que haviam sido rejeitadas pela família. Assim surgiu a Casa de Apoio Brenda Lee, com o objetivo de dar assistência médica, social, moral e material para essas pessoas que eram marginalizadas pela sociedade e por seus meios familiares.
Brenda, infelizmente, foi assassinada em 1996. Porém amigos e vizinhos se uniram para que a casa continuasse funcionando e sua memória não fosse esquecida.

O colar Brenda Lee apoia-se no pescoço e tem pendentes apoiados nas costas, trazendo a ideia de asas, fazendo referência a lembrança de Brenda como o Anjo da Guarda das travestis, já o bracelete brinca com os símbolos de masculino e feminino, fazendo referência a transsexualidade.
EN_ Guardian Angel of the Transvestites, as she was known, Brenda Lee was a transexual woman who lived in Sao Paulo and who, in despite of all the difficulties, opened doors of her house to people infected with HIV who had been rejected and evicted by their relatives. This is how was created the Brenda Lee's Assistance House, with the main goal of providing medical, social, moral and material assistance to those who were outcasted from society and their families.

Brenda Lee's necklace leans on the front of the neck and have pendants that fall along the back, as a reference to the wings of an angel, as she became remembered by the transexual and transvestite women. The bracelet presents a playful mix with the symbols of male and female, as a reference to transgender sexuality.

PT_ Líder indígena do povo Guajajara, atualmente é coordenadora executiva da Articulação dos Povos Indígenas do Brasil (Apib) e da Coordenação das Organizações Indígenas da Amazônia Brasileira (Coiab). Ela é uma das principais vozes do movimento indígena nacional, e já o representou em diversos eventos internacionais.
Sônia tem sido inspiração para os povos e principalmente para as mulheres indígenas, que sofrem muitas vezes não só dentro das tribos como fora também, já que muitas pessoas ainda têm preconceitos com os índios.

O colar Guajajara é longo, sem necessidade de fecho e traz símbolos presentes em pinturas e artesanatos indígenas. O bracelete faz referência a fruta Canapu, presente nas regiões em que habitam os índios Guajajara no estado do Maranhão e que, na crença da tribo, os antepassados se alimentavam dela antes da agricultura ser ensinada para o povo.
EN_ Native indian leader of the Guajajara tribe, Sonia is the current executive coordinator of the Articulation of the Brazilian Native Indian People (APIB) and the Coordination of Native Indian Organizations of the Brazilian Amazon. She is one of the top voices of the brazilian native indian movement and has represented them in diverse international events.

The Guajajara necklace is long, requires no clasp and depicts symbols from the native's paintings and crafts. The bracelet recalls the Canapu fruit, present in the regions where the Guajajara people reside in the state of Maranhão (Brazil), and from which, according to their creed, their ancestrals fed from before agriculture was taught to people.
