Once you see Hiroyuki-Mitsume Takahashi’s colorful and illuminated works, you’ll never forget them. His art invokes a blend of manga-style art, augmented with vibrant composition and color, all filtered through a cybernetic lens. Takahashi’s illustrations evoke the manic energy of the Tokyo club scene and in a broader sense the kinetic nature of Japanese pop culture in general. His well-known live-painting events display his command of both digital and traditional art mediums.
Already a successful illustrator domestically, his work has quickly started to gain acclaim abroad. He’s been a guest at Anime Expo in the US, Japan Expo in France, The Seoul Illustration Fair in South Korea, AniCrush in Singapore and the Hamburg MaGnology in Germany. Takahashi is looking forward to meeting fans at this year’s J-POP SUMMIT.
Takahashi is currently working on the second volume of CrunchyRoll’s Hypersonic Music Club webcomic. The comic, co-created with Japanese pop culture expert Patrick Macias, was the first entry in CrunchyRoll’s successful original content initiative.
