States of Removal
Mixed media
Drawing on archival images of cities and utopian urban planning diagrams, this set of four sketches reflects on the spaces removed during historic processes of urban renewal. Documentation images are transfer printed onto paper and layered over, with sites of demolition conspicuously not transferred. By erasing these spaces, these works speak to the gaps in urban memory.
