The National Bouquet: A New Symbol for Britain

The National Bouquet is a symbol of unification, designed to represent this new beginning for the people of Britain. The symbol features the national flowers of Scotland, Northern Ireland, England, and Wales — A representation of the nation’s united diversity, and a welcoming, forward-looking outlook for its future.

Flowers were chosen as they're an object of the people, rather than that of the government — And, like our nation, they have to be cared for to ensure a healthy future.

The National Bouquet is also a symbol for spring; A time of renewal, and a historic marker for this time of redefinition by its peoples.

Cover Design

As a nod back to Britain’s history, the cover is set in Royal Blue. The front cover features The National Bouquet, paired with a classic approach to layout and typography. The back-side features an emboss of The Royal Coat of Arms, alongside a mention to the nation’s position within The Commonwealth.

Visa-Page Imagery

Visa pages feature british icons & imagery that pay homage to the nation's diversity & contributing cultural influences. This example spread features Albertus, a typeface that’s inherent to Britain's visual culture, through its use in street signage and monuments — Designed by Berthold Wolpe, a German Typographer & emmigrant who moved to England in 1935.

Typography

All headline typography is set in Domaine — A contemporary typeface that takes influence on traditional victorian-era letterforms. These classical headlines are reinforced by body copy set in Gill Sans, a traditionally British typeface.
