Mountain Bike Goggle

The MTB goggle project was intended to be the market's first truly MTB specific goggle rather than a merely modified Moto goggle. The smaller frame size and closer proximity to the face crated a significant improvement in weight and field of view. Additional key features included:

• Spherical Lens: Since tear-offs and roll-offs aren't necessary for MTB, optical correction can be possible in both vertical and horizontal directions, unlike the cylindrical lens on a moto goggle.
• "Comfort" Lens - Unlike Moto, MTB riders often transition in and out of shadows due to tree coverage. A dual wavelength-filtered lens offers better contrast in the shadows without compromising protection against the sun.
• "Powder Puff" - A moisture wicking, felt-like face fleece offers unparallelled comfort and wetness protection without sacrificing grip on the skin. Test riders have unanimously preferred this material over anything currently available on the market.
• Foam Membrane - The biggest complaint for sweaty goggles is dripping perspiration from the brow into the eyes. This happens after the foam is saturated. This problem is addressed with a moisture wicking membrane bonded to the underside of the top foam causing perspiration to be channeled to the sides rather than dripping directly into the eyes.
The basic goggle geometry that minimally satisfies functional requirements was the baseline. The designer was instructed to use the aesthetics of the new ProFrame helmet and the existing line of goggles as the basic framework for Industrial Design concepts. The next 3 photos shows what he came up withdddddddddddd
The vent holes are borrowed from the current AirSpace Goggle while the lines are contoured to match this helmet (a bit too literally). These two products are not intended to be used together as the MTB goggle is intended for a half shell helmet.
Very similar to the first design with the addition of debosses from the helmet.
Lower profile nose bridge portion with vents and embossed logo borrowed from current AirSpace goggle. Additional center "race stripe" to match this particular helmet's paint scheme.
Lowest profile nose bridge with additional "fins" from a moto goggle.
Based on the 3 main concepts from this first draft, the basic shape of version (B) was combined with the lower nose bridge from version (C) to make the first fully branded prototype for field testing shown below.
This is the final concept (D) that moved forward into prototyping and field testing. Though it has been widely received by both pros and amateurs alike, the brand has still yet move forward on commercialization plans.
