PÄTS - traditional bread making from Estonia

Bread making has been an important part of Estonian traditions and culture for hundreds of years. There is nothing quite like the smell and taste of a freshly baked warm loaf of bread.

Making bread at home has been a growing trend in recent years again. We wanted to give the people modern products that haven't forgotten the roots and values to enhance the authentic experience of making bread.

Inspired by all this, the PÄTS series was born.

All the materials used are traditional and natural – wood, clay and linen, but they have been given modern touches through design and manufacturing processes. This means an authentic experience combined with modern day quality.

The series consists of a cutting board, different sized bowls inspired by Seto bowls, breadbags and towels, a butter knife, a dough spatula, a salt tray and a bread pan. The whole process of bread making can be done using the PÄTS series products.

The PÄTS product series was created during the 'Good Estonian Artifact' project at the Estonian Academy of Arts in cooperation with Kristi Mägi and Liina Kurvits from Product Design and Liina Leo from Textile Design BA.
