Grow, Overcome, Conquer

This look walked the runway at the Barnes Foundation Spring 2016 Fashion Show, and won the Heather Kauffman Tween Critic Award

My inspiration for this collection was the regrowth of nature on man-made structures. The nature used this obstacle that originally crushed it as a crutch to create something even more beautiful.
This became a symbol of strength and resilience to me, and I wanted to bring that into my line. Children are extremely resilient but sometimes too soon, these children begin to realize that the world isn't perfect.
I want these young girls to gain a sense of empowerment when they wear these clothes. I want it to be a reminder of their resilience, their potential and their beauty. They can overcome obstacles--and even tragedies--and refuse to be crushed by them. These children can ultimately learn and grow from these experiences and overcome these obstacles that originally may tear them down.
