Pattern for Ayn Rand novel "The Fountainhead"
The task was to create pattern for dust jacket to "The Fountainhead" novel by Ayn Rand. With this pattern I wanted to express the main idea of the book, that the creative people with strong principles are the engine of the progress. Main character of the book Roark embodies what Rand believed to be the ideal man, and his struggle reflects Rand's belief that individualism is superior to collectivism. Roark was an architecture so my idea was to show individualism embodied in buildings.

I was inspired by Art Deco style in posters and architecture and, of course, The Fountainhead movie with beautiful Patricia Neal.

The process of icon creation went further my sketches. So here's how the final icon set looks.
The next step was color serach.
Finally pattern with book mark. I've choosen the colors of the city: gray skyscrapers,
yellow street lights, taxi cab.
