"DATA VISUALIZATION" - Wikipedia shows what it is about

________
Wikipedia is known to be not always reliable, not a "real encyclopedia", even in spite of the meticulous control of its sources by administrators. However this project is not about the reliability of its sources. In fact Wikipedia can show us much more than simple enciclopedic notions. The Web is the mirror of the society and what is happening in the world: since countless people everyday write and read those pages, Wikipedia can show in a very good way people's mind map around a topic and how knowledge and ideas gather and orbit around a starting point.

This visualisation shows how we can crawl Wikipedia pages, through the See also section that you can often find on the bottom part of the page. The starting point of this network is the English page about Data visualization. Then from there I went down to 3 levels of See also, from page to page. This is a pretty good way to see what people associate to Data visualization, how those ideas gather in clusters and which are the main nodes of this network (the bigger the node the higher the number of links toward that page).

On one hand we can see how data visualisation can be important for business intelligence and really close to business intelligence, while on the other the visualisation shows how Interaction design is equally important, opening a new door towards a different, modern, smart and engaging kind of presentation. This field of design might also allow to show the complexity of the "big picture" in a clearer way and help even more in data analysis.
