"The Site Dwelling, located on the cliff of the bay, in the village of Salir do Porto, aims to create a secluded destination, a place of retreat to engage with the landscape while providing shelter from the natural elements. This is a place to stay and inhabit for a few days, offering visitors a unique experience in a very special setting; visitors must leave the space as they found it, empty."

How can be an experience of few days in a dwelling on a cliff, engaging with nature and sea? Here, at Salir do Porto, two elements distinguish this cliff: the ruins of Sant’Ana and the special position, laid out to both the ocean and the bay. The main goal is to capture each glimpse of the scenery. These ruins, which become an important part of the project, as the scenographic main entrance of the dwelling, give the first two frames of the landscape. The access is gained through the pavement of the ruins, so that the dwelling is born to the bowels of the chapel. Underneath, you feel like being in a cavern, the view of the sky is captured by a hole in the ceiling. This is the core every room is linked to, each one is oriented towards a different direction, with its own particular view. From the bedroom the ocean can be contemplated, the bathroom looks at the old lighthouse on the opposite cliff, while both living and cooking engage with the bay.
No furniture is needed, each element is made of rock or excavated in the ground, so visitors can leave the space as they found it.
Looking at the cliff from the opposite one, the eyes of the rooms give a new meaning to the ruins.
