Even though gender inequality has brought more attention and concern from people, it is still very hard to completely eliminate this inequality from our life. The reason is that this idea has been deeply rooted in our minds over time, so it sometimes happens unconsciously. For example, when you are buying clothes for a newborn baby, you will first ask if the baby is a girl or a boy. If it’s a girl, you will soon get a pink dress for her. However, if it’s a boy, you would probably get a blue shirt for him. We are unconsciously controlled by the idea of the difference between girls and boys, which is why gender inequality is hard to be eliminated. In this series, I combined the pattern from Art Nouveau and the idea of Existentialism to express gender issues in our unconscious mind.
