Logo Design - Branding

As a designer, I work both as a freelance designer, as well as owning my own graphic design firm. In some respects, this is like running two separate companies. Though doing largely the same things, each needs its own branding package, marketing, etc.  This gallery shows the transformation process of the branding packages for my two businesses.
The logo began simply. A combination of geometric shapes.
I saw there was the potential for something. I added in a second piece I had also been playing with, to give it more depth.
I began to play with the colors; changing the center gear to a two-color gradient.
I added a third color to the two-color gradient on the main body. This was the logo for several months.
About three months later, I reworked the colors a bit, adding a darker blue and a purple to the pallet.
The company name was added in, with some special typography work on the " N' ". This has become the Pixels n Stuff Media Services Logo.
However, the transformation wasn't yet complete. As my team began to grow, and we began to work more using it, I began to find a small problem. With the domain PIXELSNSTUFF.COM, I found we were having to spell out the domain name everytime it was given verbally.
I ultimately took the graphical portion and added it to another piece I had done, and use it as the logo for my freelance work.
