Hospices as a primary architectural intervention in a determined space are institutions for accommodation, care and palliative treatment for terminally ill and severely handicapped patients. It’s all about institutions that connect social and health care. Usually they are located in the city for psychological reasons (patients are in contact with the everyday life and frequent visits are enabled for family and friends). Nevertheless, the subject of a hospice in an urban fabric of a city always is a sensitive issue. Although there are realistic conditions and a goodwill for this kind of building to be accepted by ever user of public space, all the same a certain step forward must be made and the taboo topic of death incorporated in the urban environment. The inconvenient duality of rejecting the ill from the healthy and the psychological condition of the patients who are usually introverted in the comprehension of their imminent death is especially difficult.Inside the building, a question imposes: how to create three different worlds in one space - a world for children, adults and the elderly? Every stationary is organized separately retaining a private system of communications. The first floor is reserved for children, whose stationary forms around a common courtyard, the next elevation is a stationary for adults, which is formed in three cascading rows, with living spaces oriented to the south, while the stationary for the elderly is situated on the third floor as a solid mat structure interwoven with courtyards and impregnated with a theme of community. The hospice as a conciliatory element of different stands influences the terrain in an ever so adjustable way and has a perimeter for aesthetic, psychological and functional reasons. It appears solid and stern pulsating in the surrounding ambient emphasizing its importance and the severity of the problematic it contains. The building, therefore, is wrapped in an envelope whose purpose is to soften the difference between private and public space.
