Visualizing Fire Ecology

Paper Works
In this project I sculpted six plants from paper and set them on fire. The infographic describes how plants evolved to survive in wildfire-prone California. Each of the six different plants features a unique evolutionary adaptation to fire.
After videotaping the burning process, I edited the film in Photoshop to create a looping animation. The final GIFs are composed of flames from many different stages of the film, pieced together and color-corrected to appear as if all of the paper pieces were burning at the same time.
