The Year of Spaghetti is a short story written by Haruki Murakami. The main character makes spaghetti every day for a year, and choosing to isolate himself although he has opportunities to reintegrate with society. To convey themes of loneliness, isolation, and repetition, every time the word "spaghetti" appears in the body copy it is removed and set on the opposite page. Every time you turn a page or close the book, the words are reintegrated.
