Music has always been one of the biggest sources of inspiration and a companion during the hours when
I'd rather be alone with a pen tablet or a sketchbook. Here is my tribute to a few of the musicians I admire.
Lemmy
My very first photoshop painting, made in 2013. I tried my hand at painting on photoshop and there was no doubt about who I should draw first. Took a long time to draw this one, it was a completely new style to draw for me from my usual vector works. The newly gifted graphic tablet and listening to lots of Motörhead sure helped a lot.
Dave Grohl
The basic idea for this one, which included drawing beelzeboss, was given by a friend. I put my mind into it and added the pre and post Nirvana portraits with the pick of destiny and drumsticks near them. Drawing the volcano was quite a learning exprience, as I finally figured out how to use paths on Photoshop.
Mark Lanegan
My latest digital painting of one of my favourite singers, Mark Lanegan. Painted this on photoshop, using the pen tool to painstaking detail the microphone and the hair. The background was made by drawing elements from his album covers and lyrics on paper and then scanning and editing them. The lyrics you see here are from a song I love, I am the Wolf.
