Read Aloud :: British Library

BACKGROUND:
Visually challenged people do not have access to the vast amount of books published every day.
The library is full of books but these are just black books to the vision impaired.

PROBLEM:
The number of books available in Braille is very limited and is the same case with audio books.

SOLUTION:
Convert all books including recently published novels, magazines and comic books available in the British Library to audio books.

IDEA:
The British Library used crowd-sourcing to achieve this gargantuan task. A sound-proof studio was built in a corner where British Library members could read the book aloud. The recording would be stored in chapters and sections that were pre-marked in the unique software developed for this purpose. Similarly an iOS and Android app allowed members to record at their convenience.
